I just live to be doing things with my hands- anything with fibre; I enjoy gardening and I dabble in music and play clarinet in a concert band, and push out a few tunes on the piano; and cooking.
But mostly I’m doing fun things with fibre
I’ve been doing a bit of pre Christmas craft.
Hand blended/hand dyed fibres, and hand spun art yarn, and hand spun yarn around a length of fairy lights.
It’s a great way to use left over fibre and art yarn into something workable, and ends up as a great Christmas decoration/present.

I’m doing a little saffron’ fun spin. I have three batted I hand dyed, and blended to give a magical saffron look.

Thick-thin spun and ready for spiral-beehive plying.
Lots of squishy loveliness.

My latest spinning weaving project finished.
Hand spun alpaca for warp; hand spun polwarth-silk.
Hand spun matching art yarn used in clasp weft technique.
Ideas for this rolled over as I went along. Combined knitting and crochet for neck, insert and frill cuffs.

I’ve recently been given a lend of a Majacraft Suzie wheel with the aura flyer. I’ve spun some very fine alpaca, and plied some of that with pāua rayon thread. Super fine+++. It’s a lovely spinning wheel, and definitely has me spinning finer.
Next up will be 2 ply alpaca fine & art yarn- woo-hoo

The latest project off my RH loom.
Warp yarn - commercial alpaca
Weft- hand dyed/hand spun art yarn; hand spun Romney (3 different coloured fleece fibre given as part of a fibre group challenge).
Art yarn woven in clasp weft technique.
The cushion back is plain tabby weave.
It’s so nice.

Spin Together week has just finished. I didn’t get a lot of time, but I managed to spin up one skein of fancy cable ply. Hand dyed; blended on the Majacraft hackle; strung with beads; auto wrapped in gold thread.

At last I’ve finished a lovely spin of some beautiful polwarth-silk fibre from Fiberartemis. I did a small spin of beehives, for a bit of accent, and the rest in fingering weight yarn. I am pondering the idea of weaving it into a garment? Or maybe knit something. Maybe with light fawn alpaca stripe?

Hubby and I have very recently moved house, and I’m slowly setting my large two- roomed craft space, and also set up a wee show room in the house.
I’ve finally banged to pull something off the loom-two fingertip towns
