I did my time in retail too and one transaction is no different than any other on register and go-backs. You are on for the same number of hours whether it is the same item purchased & returned or different ones. So long as the people are nice, there is no harm to the staff.

I haven't read it but "The Homecoming" was part of my childhood. "Take these mittens. They are all you are getting for Christmas but you are going to need them now" as John Boy goes out to search for his father on Christmas Eve. All these years later and it still gets to me. Must read it!

I am trying to get back into reading fiction but it is tough. Law school and the first few years of practice absolutely beat into you that, if you are reading, you should be studying for class/the bar exam/figuring out how the hell to actually DO this job! It is hard to just relax even now.

Indeed. I had an old baseball cap that I loved. Soft cotton with a shorter than normal bill that actually fit my small face. I wore it for 15+ years for all the usual outdoor stuff. Guess what color it is? Faded a bit, of course but still...not worth the potential association.

Yeah, we're funny like that. Dems will absolutely despise a politician on a longterm basis for their entire platform but not wish them harm. MAGA will make deadly threats against a politician that they wholeheartedly supported yesterday based on a single vote or speech made today.

I honestly don't know how they do it - the men included because he can be ALMOST as nasty to some of them. I have to speak carefully even when frustrated but no judge has ever spoken to me in an abusive way. A DJ in the smallest county would be removed for anything even close to what Trump says.
