not sure what USU is but you could also see if there's a melee group at your uni. they tend to be common and even if it's an ult one they might be able to hook you up!

honestly i'd say try ebay to see if you can find any decently good looking used gamecube controllers (official, either from gamecube or the smash 4/ultimate release). there's some third party but they tend to suck. new they tend to go for around $100 USD but used can be cheaper
