This Labor Day we want to remind you to come out on Saturday to help the newly formed Troy public library staff union canvass for the budget vote. An increased budget is affordable for tax payers and will upgrade facilities and bring the sorts of benefits and pay our library workers deserve!

TROY AREA LABOR COUNCIL CONGRATULATES TROY PUBLIC LIBRARY STAFF ON UNIONIZING "The Troy Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO congratulates the staff of the Troy Public Library for winning voluntary recognition of their union with the Rochester Regional Joint Board/Workers United Upstate New York, an SEIU affiliate. We also thank the Library's Board of Trustees for voting to grant voluntary recognition of their union. This is an important victory, not just for the staff but for Library patrons and the entire city of Troy. By coming together to form a union and secure a seat at the bargaining table, the workers are demonstrating their commitment to Troy residents to maintain and expand the vital programming and services they provide at the library's two locations."
