My local community theater produced "The Gin Game" a few years ago. It's such a gift to have a play with great, meaty parts for older actors.

I checked my local library's catalog and am very pleased that they do not seem to have ordered a copy.

My first memory of visiting NY was seeing Jenny Holzer's messages on otherwise-empty theater marquees. Hard to imagine now that there were so many empty marquees in Times Square.

The movie is pretty long, you could pretend it's five half-hour episodes.

A local theater here in the Bay Area produced it a few years ago, and even did all three parts in one day a couple times during the run. It's not my favorite Stoppard by a long shot, but not many playwrights would dare do something so audacious, so ambitious, so maximalist.

The Broadway production of Travesties is my favorite performance of all time. It's supposed to be a difficult play, but I was just delighted and entranced throughout. San Francisco ACT's Arcadia had me sobbing at the end.

As someone who moved from Baltimore to the SF Bay Area, I find these results very surprising, to say the least.

Something I learned while visiting the ABBA museum: many Swedes were so horrified by ABBA's victory (and their "music for profit") that Sweden didn't even enter Eurovision in 1976. 200,000 people took to the streets in protest! Of course, ABBA had the last laugh www.sverigesradio.se/artikel/6194...

Hate to break it to you, but our now six-year-old dog has never lost his puppy energy. (He did at least stop chewing everything in sight.)

Not that it's an excuse, but I recall seeing this particular writer's byline in the 80s, so I'm guessing he hasn't been keeping up with the times

David Sedaris is the only celebrity I have ever met (and I have met lots) who was actively rude to me, but only because it came up in conversation that I had given my husband an ultimatum to quit smoking or I wouldn't marry him. DS was VERY pro-smoking at the time (I think he's since quit).

I know this will sound preposterous, considering his reputation, but I had dinner with him once (along with his then-wife Brix) and he was delightful company.
