after hearing that the inspiration for Other M's depiction if Samus was to make her "act like a proper Japanese woman" im always been more critical of stuff like that

it doesn't help that Nintendo has always treated Metroid as the unfavorable one. so whenever a game does REALLY badly the franchise goes to sleep again for another 8 years
combining those two as well as the fact that Metroid has always been about isolation & atmosphere makes fans upset
