Capitalism is killing us | The #HousingCrisis is deliberate | The 1% control the media & MPs
Lobbyist Labour sides with unscrupulous employers who want to sack people for no good reason

This is the emergency motion to @thisisyourparty conference by the SWP / Counterfire

A well-organised caucus would dominate nominations and selections

If passed, it would ensure that the SWP / Counterfire would control the party and the formation of Your Party branches

Vaccines work

Thanks to HPV vaccine, for the first time since records began, there were no cervical cancer cases diagnosed in women under 25 in 2021

Australia is now on track to eliminate cervical cancer by 2035 (if vaccine take-up is maintained)

The effect of the personal tax allowance freeze imposed by Rachel Reeves today, and by the other Tory chancellors before her (since 2021), is that by 2030, basic rate tax payers will be paying over £1,000 more tax each year

The lower our income, the harder we are hit #budget2025

I'm seeing Xmas ads already, so it must be time to share this again:

"If you see anybody advocating for Israel on the TV or radio. One of their repellent spokespeople, say. Then they will be lying, because that's what they do. They lie and they lie and they lie…"

Here’s what Lammy thought of the idea a few years ago:

“Dispensing with jury trials […] will damage our democracy”

800 years of the right to be tried by our peers to go

“Jury trials to be scrapped except for alleged rapist and killers”

Legal aid all-but gone, a right wing authoritarian govt locking up peaceful protestors whom juries would never convict

That's good news for people saving up for a deposit on their first home - forgoing takeaway coffee will now be an even bigger saving!☕️

Hopefully avocado toast will also be made more expensive 🥑🤞

So even if people are accepted as refugees, so likely to have been through terrible trauma, they will have the threat of deportation hanging over them for decades

Children will be deported in later life to a country they don’t even remember

I will never forgive the Labour Party

The lower tax threshold (the personal allowance) is £12,570

It would now be £16,200 if it had been increased in line with inflation

700k more poor households are paying tax as a result and millions more are paying higher tax

Freezing tax thresholds is a regressive tax increase

Good day at @thisisyourparty.bsky.social East London Regional Assembly overlooked by the twilight spooky castle

Breakout into small groups to discuss the founding documents worked well, & diluted some of the factionalism

I left feeling more optimistic

Sortition results to be announced tomorrow

Brenda Miles, a 98-year-old with dementia, who spent her £240,000 life savings on care bills, has been evicted with just two days' notice, after her money ran out

Every government makes noises about "fixing social care", then kicks it into the long grass

Starmer (who like Nandy, took donations from David Kogan) says he regrets signing off on Kogan’s appointment, saying he made an “unfortunate error”

Incompetence or corruption?

“Wes Streeting appeared emboldened by the row – with MPs praising a vigorous media performance and at least one Labour-backing union leaning towards backing him in the event of a vacancy”

Streeting has been consistently hostile to unions - what kind of union would back him?!

Starmerism without Starmer?

Sam Zitouni showed incredible bravery when he risked his life to save others. Now, his family needs our support during this tough time. Please consider donating or sharing to help ease their burden and show appreciation for his heroism.

How did they get on with that work to "reverse the ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans attending Aston Villa match"?

There is a seismic shift happening in UK politics

The latest polling by YouGov for Westminster voting intention in Wales:

More than half of Labour voters have shifted to Plaid Cymru or the Green Party

With Your Party and the Green Party taking off and Labour and the Tories withering, are we at a political turning point?

Vertical (membership) axes aligned, horizontal (date) axes at different scales (Tory membership line from 2001, so not at the date scale of either graph)
