I support resistance to 'Cognitive Technology' (CT) especially in education but more widely wherever relationships drive social health. In its current form CT, by design, severely limits public participation in shaping futures.

And *of course* social media must be regulated to be responsible --- here's looking at you Elon, and you Altman ... free speech is not *any* speech ... free Chat babble is not *any* babble.

This story seems fairly typical of the problem. There are external factors that frame the consequences of an action said to be triggered by social media. But social media is not causal.

Corollary? The causal chain is presented backwards - it is not social media that erodes thought ... but thought that erodes social media ... or should I write 'thought', as in Bannon, Farage, Le Pen, Höcke, etc. The fascist disease arises from history that long predates the Internet as we know it,

And therein is the real power of 'cloud capital': "it has revolutionised its own reproduction" by converting us into serfs who labour for nothing but yet create the wealth swept up by BigTech. (Yanis uses JB as a prime example: a shopkeeper who owns nothing yet decides what can be bought and sold.)

E.g. whereas brix-n-morta capitalism pays out 80% of income to wages, BigTech pays out less than 1% because most of the work it relies to create profit is done for free, by us, the 'serfs' who use their systems ... (and, "we choose to do this, enjoy it even")

UK is busy scrapping copper land lines. Replacement? An unreliable, always f**king breaking down fibre/copper digital network. A recent visit from Sky to fix my always breaking (rural) connection told me my phone must now be plugged to the router. Result? When network goes down so does the landline!
