I touched on that further down. The "-punk"-genres have been stripped from their meanings BY capitalism, to sell the aesthetics without the message.

Capitalism is brilliant at selling you aesthetics that it stole from (sub-)cultures after taking everything away that gave it MEANING.
And if you gobble it up, if you fall for the "aesthetics first" crap, you're part of the fucking problem.
