Their instinct is to see all motivations as having spiritual roots. Esoteric forces of evil push history towards the edge. So now they’re commenting under clips of MTG & Carlson decrying Israel: “Finally we’re waking up to the real Satan.” I’m pretty sure they mean Judaism. /12

These are not people with a material analysis of the world. They do not hear extreme religious rhetoric as cynically instrumental to capitalism or empire. So what happens when they hear Netanyahu quote Amalek, or see Ben Gvir at al-Aqsa? They know it’s a holy war. /11

Now I’m seeing an increasing number of anti-Israel posts from folks who, like Eisenstein, went from Q-adjacent drug trips into the political relevance of MAHA. It gave them a taste for action. Now, like the rest of us, they’re watching a real livestreamed genocide. /10

Some of these defectors, like his former comms director Charles Eisenstein, articulated clear anti-zionist positions from a Jewish POV, clarifying the categorical difference between anti-zionism and antisemitism. But there’s a contingent who can’t or won’t do that. /9

For the most part these folks were clueless about QAnon being a blood libel reboot. When I brought this to their attention in interviews in 2020 many were taken aback. Some stepped away from it, but some shrugged and digital-soldiered on.

TLDR: some will go full circle, from QAnon hallucination to (what feels to them like) QAnon confirmation as they watch livestreamed mass murder. The constant will be blaming religious and ethnic difference instead of seeing the root horrors of capitalism and colonialism. /2
