Updated #sailfish to 5.0 on my #xperia 10ii. Seems to work and now microG also. However the #jeep app still doesn’t log in. It doesn’t crash anymore but then just states login error after giving credentials. The network is a bit iffy so will need to investigate further. Also #aurorastore got an […]

In the last few months, many people have called on the EU to start supporting open alternatives to US-owned social media sites. The thing is: The EU has been doing that for some time already. It has financed, among others, ActivityPub, Mastodon and PeerTube. For @netzpolitik_feed, we spoke to […]

I've been looking at the background of Branden Spikes, the senior member of DOGE who is director of IT over at X (his OG email is b@x.com).

Prior to joining up with Musk, Spikes ran a company called Spikes Browser, which tried to create a sandboxed browser […]

Hi everyone. It’s a new month and here’s a new plea for you to support your fediverse instance if you can and they accept donations. My thanks to all that do, and also my thanks to the many people that make the fediverse tick.

Remember those posts on how Mitre declined assigning a CVE for an IoT exploit I identified and disclosed here a bunch of months ago?

It turns out Mitre did change their minds after I had explained how it could be exploited and thus it did get published through the CVE process after all. Just […]

No, there's nothing in #firefox' new ToS that has me change browser, yet. The edits might mean things could change in the future, but any switch will be as easily made then as it would be now.

I often see people recommending Signal for communication.

The difference between #signal and #matrix is that if a country implements legal backdoor requirements Signal will leave that market. That means no more app downloads and (I assume) IP blocks on the server.

Matrix ... will just keep […]

Nothing is free. If we want great stuff, we all need to pitch in in whatever way works for us.
