Thank you @drrjwarren.bsky.social. Having bought this book last week, I've already enjoyed spotting bees on ivy and learning about the origins of horse chestnuts. I'm looking forward to continuing through the microseasons 🙂.

Thanks to the Digitithe Hampshire Project, I know that Henry Hubbard leased the land on which my house now stands in 1842, but I'm unhappy to read that his son shot a honey buzzard with "beautiful plumage" here. At least it was sent to "one of the best bird stuffers in his part of the kingdom"!
