I know it’s not remotely authentic but the Panda Express Chow Mein has me in a fucking strangle hold. I always order wxtra on the rare occasions I go, no where else makes it even remotely the same and I have tried for years to recreate it at home.

Not really. It’s scratchier and… more insistent? It’s a subtle difference but having only heard Japanese crow sounds through anime I just thought it was a stock sound until I got to Japan and heard it for real.

Low key the biggest surprise for me visiting Japan was that Japanese crows really sound like that! American crows have much harsher voices and it might just be down to the individuals I’ve seen but Japanese crows were also significantly larger than their Japanese counterparts.

Still praying then when all is said and done you’ll have a publisher for a big hardbound edition of the whole thing 🙏
