Check out our recent mSphere Editor's Pick, in which Stephen Taerum demonstrates the substantial overlap in microbiomes between soil protists and the rhizosphere. Hopefully a step toward understanding anti-predation and survival in beneficial microbes!

Last spring we stopped by the grave of Ephraim Bull, the breeder of the Concord Grape. The kids were thrilled, they sure love having a plant nerd for a mom!

We found some festive Cladonia lichens covering an old iron bridge. The kids think they should be called Santa's Elves instead of British Soldiers (American kids usually associate British soldiers with a red coat and tricorn hat)).
