The problem is, every game has sold less than the previous one and all of them significantly less than the original. They thought that bringing Max back would also bring back those lapsed fans, but DE bombed even worse. They don't know what to do now.

I think as video game players, we've been conditioned to think of the protagonist in these types of games as a player insert, so we subconsciously strip Max of her personality. I replayed LIS for the first time since 2017 last year and I picked up way more depth in her than I remembered.

For what it's worth, I picked Bay the first time, but the more I thought about it, the less I liked it. But I think that's the point. You're not going to love everything about either one.

Both endings are about letting go. You can't get the perfect outcome, you have to pick the one that you can live with.

You could argue that going back in time to "fix" a choice you previously made goes against that theme more than accepting the consequences of your actions up to that point.

Chloe and Max are more likely to drown in each other's guilt and grief than for Chloe to get the ick because Max can't get over the past. Being impulsive and emotional doesn't make her a detached free spirit.
January 24, 2026 at 3:29 AM
Nah, I disagree about Chloe being someone who lives in the present. She's very tied to both past joys and past grievances. She wasn't able to get over losing her father or Max. She was searching for Rachel long after everyone else gave up. She's scared of losing people she loves.

Just make the movie now, I hear his film rights are pretty cheap.

And I'm sure Joyce would 100% rather die than let her daughter die if she had a choice.

I love how you're able to draw so many different body types and features so well. Really impressive work, as always.

The list is specifically about the 21st century. That was 1994.

The complaints have been out there for a year, if that's all you're hearing, then you're not listening.

Puppies are wiggly potatoes, it's fun to hold them.

Journalism is when you write words about stuff and it's in a newspaper???

As someone who did not like Ava (though not nearly to the degree some people did), this is 100% a chickenshit move. I was actually kind of hoping Gearbox would be able to rehabilitate her in BL4.

I think it's better to play them in release order for the context. There's one scene in particular that makes no sense if you didn't play LIS first.

Jinbe not really understanding that his crew is full of idiots is honestly a much better bit than it will ever get credit for.

An abortion ban lost by 20 points in 2022 in Kansas. Ridiculous statement, doomed to fail.
September 22, 2025 at 5:50 PM
Nah, we can't deny anyone their credit just because they suck. Just let people know that guy sucks. It's better to give them the info and let them do with it as they will.

... that AI is having. It's undeniable at this point, why contribute to it when you can create art without it?

Even if you don't care about the value of self-improvement and getting better at the things that challenge you, or the damaging mindset of constantly needing to churn out more "content," or contributing to the devaluing of human creativity, you should at least care about the environmental impact ...

Brother, horror movies can be good. You're shutting yourself off from an entire avenue of examining the world and calling others close-minded.

If I recall correctly, it was only pitched as an arc in a series about Braddock Academy, a school for super-powered kids headed by Captain Britain. Editorial latched on to the Hunger Games part and just wanted that.

Definitely could have done better, but I get why they made the decisions that they made.
August 14, 2025 at 5:44 PM
It depends on the guidelines they were given. Violating those arbitrary rules would be the end of them. They probably thought it would be easier to navigate back than risk getting cut off over something they missed.

Legitimate question: Would you prefer no communication until they've exhausted their options or come to a solution?
