I assume he is saying to vote to release them now because he will later say that there is an ongoing investigation (that he just pushed for), so they can't actually be released until after that investigation is done (not while he is President).

It sounds like things have basically been restored to how they were before the shutdown without the Democrats gaining anything concrete, so what was the point of the shutdown? The Democratic Senators who voted for this and supported it behind the scenes have completely failed their constituents.

I thought health care was what the whole shutdown was about. Republicans will not do anything good related to health care unless they are forced to, and at least returning this to how it was before their budget is not too much to require in a funding deal.
