Her research and approach focuses on telling stories from a ground-up perspective, understanding people's lived experiences to learn more about political climates and relations.

Ola completed her PhD at Cambridge, researching the roots of the Liberian civil war, and now teaches the master's course in Global Black Resistance and undergraduate courses in African Politics.

Emma and Tom will be formally admitted to their Honorary Fellowships at Trinity Hall in a ceremony in October. We are excited to welcome them to the Fellowship.

Tom Scholar is the chair of Nomura International plc and was previously the Permanent Secretary to the Treasury (2016-22). He was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath in the 2023 New Year Honours.

Emma Pooley is an engineer, author and former professional athlete. She took up cycling whilst studying at Trinity Hall and went on to race professionally for 8 years, winning several titles and a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics. 🚴‍♀️

- Chatted with our student ambassadors about why they decided to apply to Cambridge.

- Attended a candlelit formal dinner in our Dining Hall - always a highlight of any trip to Cambridge!

Thank you to all the students who joined us this week and to everyone involved in organising the programme!

- Toured the incredible facilities at the @cam.ac.uk faculties and saw the beauty of the city centre.

- Joined panels with our admissions team to learn about the application process - including the opportunity to workshop their personal statements. ✏

Over the three days, students:

- Attended taster lectures with our Trinity Hall academics, learning about everything from the Post Office Scandal to neurodegeneration. ✉️

This Monday, over 50 students joined us for the final 'You'll Fit In' residential of 2025, where they experienced life at Trinity Hall first-hand — living, studying, socialising, and dining in College.

The 'You'll Fit In' initiative offers potential applicants from underrepresented backgrounds at Cambridge a free programme of webinars, talks and residentials to help support and guide them through the University admissions process.
