Trump should not even be in our country.

Offering a state visit to someone who (amongst other things) has threatened the very existence of a Commonwealth country, Canada, was disgusting.

We should no more be considering a "special relationship" with the US than we should w/Russia, at this point.

Precisely. Kirk helped create & promote precisely the same culture which apparently killed him.

The idea that, if you're a conservative, Christian-American, anyone you disagree with politically is actually your enemy, or even "evil", or even "an enemy of God".

Gun culture + BS ideology = violence.

Gun culture + BS ideology is a pretty deadly combo.

And there'll be more violence as a consequence of the culture this movement has created, on the right.

Probably mostly directed at itself, because extremist movements invariably fragment and eventually turn on themselves. Especially when their followers believe that they have "God" on their side.

Totally unsurprising though.

As political cultures become more extreme they inevitably fragment and also inevitably turn in on themselves (history has countless examples of this).

So MAGA may get the "Civil War' that they long for; it's just very unlikely to take the form that they imagine.

Lethal weapons and bullsh1t ideology is always a deadly combo.

Yes he did. You can find the video online where the Christofascist creep says "thou shall lay with another man shall be stoned to death .. just sayin" (where he is quoting, or rather slightly misquoting, Leviticus).

Only place I can find it at the moment is "X" but don't want to link to there.

Living down to the classic stereotype of the typical, dumb, insular American, huh?

It was called "the Troubles". You could always try Googling it, if you wish.

It wasn't "reverse framing"; it was a question.

I have lived somewhere where political violence was an everyday thing. Where you could be shot, blown up, kidnapped etc just walking to the shops or even in your car at some 'unofficial' roadblock.

So is this what you aspire to for your country too?
September 10, 2025 at 9:19 PM
Um, yeah ..

If their statement was "ironic" then yours was doubly so. Not to mention, also laughably lacking in any self-awareness.

Have you ever lived somewhere where political violence was the norm? Where people could be shot, blown up, kidnapped, tortured, literally any time, at any moment, just stepping out of their front door?

Is that what you guys actually aspire to for your country?

Where I used to live (north of Ireland) political violence was common .. or political/religious violence, as the 2 were inextricably interlinked. It was the norm for several decades. 1000s died.

It's like a landslide; once it starts it gathers its own momentum and is then very difficult to stop.

> the most?

Emphasis, as a religion, since as I’ve already said, there are obviously plenty of people who identify as Jewish in a social/cultural sense, who follow Jewish traditions, but who don’t believe in any god or that there’s any sort of divinity behind these practices.

It's not particularly normative to be "religiously" Jewish & to also be an atheist, either.

So since you define yourself in that way (or at least I assume you do, otherwise your initial response here makes zero sense), perhaps you could explain which aspects of Judaism as a religion appeal to you >
