vs character there as romance for the player, that's so interesting! It's infinitely more fun for me if the character has their own preferences and motivations--especially when they surprise you in a negative way😂 It doesn't seem like we'll be getting that again anytime soon though, sadly.. 2/2

I wish the gate-keeping style was more popular. I've finished two romances in BG3, and even with the content added over the past year, they don't feel as satisfying as any of my DAO-DAI romances. I'd never thought about it as character with their own agency 1/2

Thanks for the interesting insight! DA2 is my favourite DA game because of how much the companions are tied in to the world's conflicts and because of the ability to have rivalry relationships (romantic and non). I am holding out hope that one day we'll see something like it again.

I would too! But Anders in DA2 was written by Jennifer Hepler, so David might not write about him... It would still be interesting to hear anything he contributed to the character though esp with regards to the merger with Justice and personality change--was that planned from the outset?
