The city of Keelung at Taiwan's northern tip is celebrating its 400th anniversary this year. It also boasts Taiwan's second largest port. Lots of new buildings have gone up recently... Keelung Tower, new shopping mall, new train station. Looking good, Keelung!

I recently finished two days of guide training in Lishan (a mountainous area of Taichung (central Taiwan) that is home to the Indigenous Atayal (Tayan) people. Spent time at the Indigenous-run Kumy Tea Plantation and Black Forest Trail on the first day and hiked a hunter's trail on the second day.

Finished the second and last day (for now) of English-language training for guides in Taichung City's Heping District. The day began with a hike from the Council of Indigenous Peoples training center in Guguan. The destination was Nanusa, a privately run Indigenous Atayal cultural park....

Finished the first day of a two-day English-language workshop for guides in Taichung City's Heping District, which is home to several Indigenous Atayal communities... Today was spent exploring the Songhe Community near the Guguan hot springs area.

The National Taiwan Museum of Comics in Taichung, Taiwan is made up of a group of Japanese colonial era (1895-1945) buildings, once part of the Taichung Prison. These buildings have been renovated with some open to the public, displaying comics and exhibitions on relevant themes.
