Involuntarily I glanced seaward—and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been at the end of a dock.

My ranking of Bong's films, and to be clear, I think they're all great. Maybe a bit of recency bias with Mickey 17 and I still haven't seen Barking Dogs Never Bite, but its my current thoughts. How would you rank them?

Rewatched Starship Troopers the other night. Great satire, but also, a revealing of evil systems through exaggeration. boxd.it/96r4x9

There is no link between vaccines and autism. Huge waste of everyone's time, money, energy, etc. Someone tell Doge the government waste is calling from inside the house.
The CDC is planning to conduct a large-scale study to re-examine whether there is a connection between vaccines and autism, federal officials said Friday. Dozens of scientific studies have failed to find evidence of a link.
C.D.C. Will Investigate Debunked Link Between Vaccines and Autism
Dozens of studies have failed to find evidence of a link. The decision to re-examine the question comes as a measles outbreak, driven by low vaccination rates, widens in Texas.

Truly loved MICKEY 17 — Director Bong doing madcap sci-fi with 100 mil of WB money and a cast that isn’t shy about getting weird. This is the type of filmmaker forward flex that audiences should be supporting in theaters to send a strong message on opening weekend. Go see it, please.

Perhaps the majority of academy voters just felt Madison gave the best performance? I'm not a fan of the oscars but we don't need to make moralist arguments about which person got the shiny statue.
I would’ve loved if Demi Moore won but I’m amazed the consensus takeaway seems to be “ageism” and not that the Academy doesn’t give awards to lead performances from big genre (here, horror) movies, especially ones that wouldn’t have even been nominated only a few years ago.

Not trying to take anything away from the winners (and I'm not watching the oscars), but the Oscars is a reality TV special before an arbiter of high quality film. They have an interest in ratings and being self-congratulatory, little to no interest in art. They (very) rarely make accurate choices.

Just finished reading "Booster Shots". Informative and engaging, it strings together histories of vaccines and the measles virus all the way through to the COVID pandemic and anti-vaccine movements.

I've just finished reading chapter 9 of the book, "Booster Shots" by Adam Ratner MD MPH, entitled 'Amnesia'. It is, so far, the best chapter yet in a great and informative book. Seeing as measles outbreak in Texas as occurring I thought I'd share a passage about the dangers of measles.
