A rare disease occurs in less than 1 in 2,000 people. 70% start in childhood. 6,000+ identified. 72% are genetic. 1 of 5 cancers is rare. ~300m with rare diseases. My Sister died of a rare disease. Family, Friends, kids of Friends w/rare diseases.
Research isn't easy or cheap. Funding is important.

5 years. Don't have any words of wisdom. Grief is brutal. & lonely. Even though others share the same grief.
Don't think it broke me. Think it exposed that I was broken before. Also lonely & brutal.
My hands remind me of his. How I hold myself reminds me of him. I am clearly my Father's son.
