Today I’m launching Liberal Ground, a publication (and beyond) where I will reflect and write about culture, society and politics, with an appeal to rebuild the sane and moderate left, and find unity and common ground in liberal values - the foundation of America

This photo is the bane of my existence. Most of you on this site probably hate and associate bitcoin with Trump, MAGA, and billionaires turning their backs on democracy.
I don’t blame you. And yet, Bitcoin as freedom and resistance money the state can’t control is the antithesis to Trump

I’ve never seen Trump be this unhinged about a core part of his base, literally saying he doesn’t want their support anymore. Wild

She’s right. Also, this is not our fucking war! Progressives need to lead this anti-war coalition, and vote against/primary those that stay silent or support war with Iran.

This photo really ruined bitcoin perception amongst progressive in the U.S.
I get it! We have a president who could care less about civil liberties, govt overreach, corruption, and crypto scams.
U.S. progressive Bitcoiners see Bitcoin in a different light, bc Bitcoin ≠ Trump

It’s ok for us to keep using this word to describe MAGA and the Trump administration. Selective rule of law, military on civilian streets for no reason, military parade, pursuing political opponents, etc

This Bitcoin headline will be the front page of the Wall Street Journal next year if I and @progressivebitcoiner.org have anything to do with it! 🙃

Already see many on the left spreading FUD on this
Going after the crime, not the underlying tool that is technology for everyone.
Now, in a case-by-case basis we’ll see how/who Trump DOJ goes after…which could still be highly suspect. BUT mixers won’t be deemed unlawful in and of themselves. Big!

“…funding a movement is easier when activists can transfer money to one another using Bitcoin, avoiding both the banking system and the secret police."
This is the killer app for Bitcoin. You want a 5th yacht, go buy nvidia or something.

This is one of many reasons why millennials who have been completely fucked by the system prefer saving in bitcoin. Bitcoin is incredible savings technology held in the long term.
It’s not gambling and crypto trading. It’s just trying to have a better life without just barely scraping by

So I can’t comment or quote post on this. What was the point?
I was just saying Rabble is a great developer, and he’s a founder of nos.social
And nostr is decentralized with many clients and builders. What was the point of this? To pick a fight?

Why Bitcoin?
One reason is that there is no other cryptocurrency that is worth holding in the long term compared to Bitcoin. Others pose too many additional risks comparatively.
For working class Americans looking to preserve their wealth, Bitcoin is a no-brainer

@brockm.bsky.social interesting counterpoint over on nostr to add to your argument perhaps
My only counterpoint to his open source point was that power, politics, sociology and human organization is messier and more complex to address rather than just “open source fixes this.” How?
