The 4.25% increase is the operating rate. Pipes would fall under the capital budget. I hope you can educate yourself and not rely on us BIPOC folks who know what they’re talking about.

Dessert? Sounds delicious! We should have more dessert locations in Hamilton.

HTDC does not operate with any contributions from the City. It’s entirely funded by the hotel stay fee.

It moved to George Street where Andiamo used to be. The owner has rebranded it as Amici Hair Lounge, but all the Google reviews include references to Joseph's.

Look at you being Mr. Masc during Labour Gay! Good on ya; have fun!

Real camping or a gay campground like Cedars or The Point?

Makes sense. They made the same request of bike share so it's good to see consistency in decision making.

If it's Balfour you're referring to, then the organization is putting $1 million into required capital repairs and the City is receiving an annual lease payment for managing the building on behalf of the Ontario Heritage Trust. The City isn't subsidizing that group like they will New Vision.

No free bread? At least you got a snack across from you.

The area is a floodplain according to Conservation Halton mapping and regularly experiences torrential flooding, most recently in July 2024. A tunnel that will regularly flood doesn't sound like a great idea. It looks like Metrolinx made a good choice here.

The report is going to Council so it'd be out there any way. Most councillors release a statement on social media when these reports come. It's important to note that the forms are for every meeting when there may be a conflict; not a one time thing. It's an important distinction for accountability.

A lawyer that succeeds at a charter challenge can make big bucks from that accomplishment. Working free for an elected official who has a potential role in the outcome of that challenge is murky at best; or a potential conflict. Have you had a chance to read the report that reached that conclusion?

I have no issues with him. He chose to post photos that showed he violated Council's Code of Conduct, making the IC's job easy. It's like someone videotaping themselves committing a crime. To each their own!
January 6, 2025 at 8:27 PM
Cam is receiving $'000s of free legal services from a lawyer who's suing the City on a matter that Cam is voting on. It has the same stink as if a developer offered free marketing services to a Councillor on Planning Committee. If you can't see how they're the same then you may have blinders on.
January 6, 2025 at 8:10 PM
If a Councillor is failing in their duties to adhere to the Code of Conduct, like Cameron does, then sure. Most cllrs aren't posting on public social media accts of every person they interact with so proving it will be a struggle. This may be a good thing for you given your passion on the issue.
January 6, 2025 at 8:08 PM
That's not the bar for a conflict though. His close friendship with Ashely and his self-described "acquaintanceship" with Wade plus his personal advocacy with the issue they were suing the City in all come into play; it's taking a holistic view of the situation. Cam should have declared a conflict.
January 6, 2025 at 8:02 PM
Yes. This is exactly what this case points to. Cameron's consistent posting on social media is why this undisclosed conflict was identified based on the IC report.
January 6, 2025 at 8:00 PM
But he did have a conflict with individuals with active litigation against the City. The IC report clearly lays that out, and Cameron's own letter doesn't dispute he's close with them. That's a potential conflict in Ontario; as an elected official he's held to a higher standard than pleeps.

Did you speak at the Council meeting where Pauls report was presented? Our IC is well respected in the legal profession (TPR had good things to say) so saying he came to the wrong conclusion is a big statement.
January 6, 2025 at 7:34 PM
What specific parts of the reports do you disagree with? He discusses how Pauls has always declared her son works for HPS, didn't vote, etc. From the wording of Cam's letter it sounds like he never declared his relationship when req'd. So it sounds like she followed the rules & he didn't.
January 6, 2025 at 7:25 PM
The IC already looked into the matter, at Cllr Paul's request, and found it was appropriate for her to vote on the Police Budget. She previously didn't vote on it based on the opinion of the previous IC. She followed all the rules and procedures in declaring her conflicts, unlike Cllr Kroetsch.
