What’s happening in the US is important. But while you’re looking that way, the UK “Labour” government is attacking trans people, disabled people, immigrants, those on benefits, and more.

Including this worrying development:

I’m listening to Laurence Rees’ “The Nazi Mind: 12 Warnings from History.” I highly recommend it, as I do his other work.

Please read this. We need to know this stuff in this moment. You’ll recognise a lot.

That mechanism that retards action is something that KSR is very good on in Ministry for the Future.

Thinking about “Dry January”? (Even if you’re just thinking and not doing). Consider reading This Naked Mind.

It’s for anyone, not just for “other people” and “those who have a problem”. Have a look for yourself.

Audio book available on Spotify, Audible etc.

A detail of an Anglo-Norman fresco at St Botolph's Church, Hardham, West Sussex. The church is thought to have been completed by 1125CE. The frescoes are early C12th, reminiscent of the style of the Bayeux tapestry.

An anchorite lived in a walled-off cell from around 1250CE.

We’re the first sit down customers in the new Spitfire Coffee on Great Western Road! Great coffee, great music. I’ve always enjoyed visiting their Merchant City cafe. Good luck to their new venture. ☕️

I’m not a fan of telling people what they “should” do, especially not based on their ethnicity.

Arthur's Stone, Herefordshire, a Neolithic chambered tomb around 5,700 years old.

9 upright stones, with an enormous capstone of about 25 tonnes.

The upland between the Golden Valley & the Wye Valley hosts an integrated Neolithic ceremonial landscape.

Vindolanda, by Hadrian's Wall. Used for 4 centuries, soldiers from Spain, Gaul, Germany, Dacia, Asia Minor, Syria and North Africa lived there. There is evidence they had local girlfriends. There was correspondance and trade with their homelands. Immigration is not new.
