Couldn’t get a good picture but I saw this odd coloured wild turkey this afternoon amongst a flock of the usual colour pattern. I thought it was albino or perhaps interbred with domestic turkeys, but apparently it’s a rare recessive gene that causes it, they are called “Smokey grey phase” turkeys.

Sunday hike. Rogers Pond loop trail in Marlborough Forest. Easy 5km, flat, mostly dense cedar bush. 1/3 was badly post holed, the first section was deceptively well packed. Beautiful blue skies and 3 degree temps. Lots of tracks, especially deer and coyote, but all I saw was 1 squirrel.
