I feel like a lot of people confuse having a heart or a lot of emotions as a weakness, and having neither of those things as a strength.
Which makes sense, considering that popular culture for a lot of the past 20 years has wholeheartedly embraced Stone cold cynicism as being a strength.

I'm a trained mechanic, but I also absolutely fucking hate being a mechanic because it ensured my knees were fucked before I turned thirty.
Even with military-given training, part of the issue is also that the job fucking sucks ass and most shops treat mechanics like shit.
