Star Trek inspires. It promises us that a better future - a kinder future is possible. As Gene Roddenberry said "There will be no hunger, there will be no greed, and all the children will know how to read." And that through cooperation, curiosity, and solidarity, we can get to that future and create the world we wish existed today. TREKtivism is the act of taking that inspiration and realizing it. Trek actors harness the dream of Trek to do incredible good in the word. Fans like you can partner with charity organizations to help the vulnerable and battle terrible illnesses. TREKtivism can and does change lives. This panel will talk about what kind of future we want to create together. Come to this open discussion where we can gather as Trek fans to share our activist, social, and political work to summon the Roddenberry future as well as always to get involved if you're looking how to!

In the coming days, the national media is gonna call LA a war zone. But the truth is, the folls protesting today were worried about their friends, their neighbors, and their community. A few idiots will throw a rock, and it'll take over the entire narrative. But just know LA is afraid right now because their coworkers were kidnapped at work. Because the guy who sold them dinner was snatched by masked men. And because a bunch of neighbor's parents straight up never came home. As Trump gleefully escalates this with the National Guard, violence is inevitable. But just know this protest started from a place of protection. A place of love. We love our neighbors. We love our family. We love our community. Whatever the news tells you in the coming days, that's the truth. They're gonna paint a version of LA that's much different than that. We are excited to be joined by Jarrah Hodge of the legendary Women at Warp podcast which recently just wrapped with its final ever episode. In addition to co-hosting and producing Women at Warp, Jarrah is also a communications, advocacy and engagement specialist with extensive experience in the non-profit sector and labour movement. She is now serving as the communication lead at the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness. In light of Canada's recent Federal Election and ongoing housing crisis, we were eager to hear about Jarrah's ongoing work. We also talk about visiting another podcast – The Treksperts Briefing Room where we talked DS9's "Past Tense" with Star Trek writer Lisa Klink!
