Normally follows the through line of “Yea my grandma knew ____ but she didn’t really teach my mom (usually natives are treated bad). Then I didn’t teach you because I barely knew the language”

To find which tribe your family belonged to that can be done through a genealogist but that requires good documentation on live births and deaths from your home country. Or if your mom knows, ask what language *her* grandma or mother spoke is usually always a good starting point.

Yes and no. DNA test can tell you at best your country/ies of origin. Not so well when it comes to finding specific ethnic groups. This is also because there’s not alot of difference in dna between ethnicities native to a certain nation state. Mostly cultural/linguistic/religious differences.
