As a source of protein, skins and tools the animal would have been significant in booth an economic & ceremonial sense. There's a rich mythology surrounding the deer family of mammals in many cultures across the world. 🦌🌿

Sketched one of my fav. petroglyphs- The image of the elk (or moose?) is inspired by one of the Skachi Alyan petroglyphs located in the Siberia region of Russia. It's thought to have been created during the Neolithic period. It's carved into basalt rock & located on the 6km shore of the River Amur.
