In Ontario, at least, making any change to your vehicle that changes its performance invalidates your insurance. If you total your car after doing that, and they find out, they do not have to pay you. (Source: My brother has worked in auto insurance for 25+ years.)

The person who killed cornb93’s mother, and most others who cause traffic fatalities, almost certainly also felt that they were driving at a safe speed. The fact that you can say this today is called survivorship bias, and is completely meaningless to the discussion.

I know the song, but am not super familiar with the lyrics. I saw them performing this and thought “oh, cool, they’ve changed it up to be very of the moment”. Looked up the original lyrics to compare, and nope, that’s how it was written.
