What if everything is both better *and* worse than we think it is?
Hard to fault audiences when j school so often produces takes like this Axios one

This should be written on our currency.

Imagine having to look at Matt Walsh in a picture with aliens and Matt Walsh irl everyday

I agree with this, but I think it’s important to highlight that reality’s largest causal factor is because those people currently rely on an info ecosystem that will lie to them and tell them the cultural enemies are the ones to blame.

They’ll likely never hear anyone argue the GOP is to blame.

It’s exactly why progressives need to continually own every one of those terms and not run from them. We need to identify ourselves with the goodness those words represent to us.

It’s not about the individual words. It’s about standing our ground on what’s right regardless of what they say.

Have to say, this is painfully reductive. The issues we need to tackle are far more varied and nuanced than just the need for redoubling our investments into education (which is among the pantheon of such issues, to be clear).

Honestly, to a far greater degree than is acceptable, the veneer of judicial independence is just a problematic fig leaf anyway.

Getting rid of the pretense of independence will help lay judges’ biases out for everyone to see, and we should assess them in that context.

Bongino is awful and he’s dangerously unqualified for the job.

That said, damn, being away from your wife actually does suck, and the job likely is really mentally and emotionally taxing.

Very unclear why we don’t keep giving him shit for being awful, instead of doing it for being human.

Sure, but we (rightfully) responded that alpha males aren’t real things and that demonstrating compassion and humanity is good.

When they do, probably best we stick with our “this is good, do more of this” position.

They still have way more than enough shit for us to go after.

The poll-tested approach to politics is basically antithetical to our entire system.

Why find out what others think and change your position to match it? The entire point is for you to already have the views they want representing them in office.

This is very…very gross.
May 17, 2025 at 12:50 AM
Completely fucking outrageous. The party needs to be stripped down to the studs and completely rebuilt.

There is no commitment to duty, principles, or enforcement of our laws or their constitutional responsibilities.

They only care about staying in the ruling class, not about why they’re there.

Honestly, not convinced that’s true. No transgression should be simply ignored, but many are best dealt with through other means.

If the goal is to make him as unpopular as possible, the path is very likely not to add to the din of disjointed allegations, but rather hammer on a cohesive narrative.

And continues to do so. Michigan Dems - Whitmer, Peters, Slotkin - are prime examples of being active participants in abetting some of the indefensible pain the Trump admin is going to cause in the future.
