My happy hop over to kidlit in the ‘00s was mostly out of how dang long drawing takes. But holy heck, the delta between a trad. book deal for an illustrated book from a big 5 or big indie … and a deal for a graphic novel from a big deal comics indie is the Grand Frickin Cavern.

I was inspired by the level of pre-work work that Alec Longstreth puts into his stuff. It sincerely brought me out of a burnout.
