Husband to the world’s greatest wife, father of two amazing adult children, professional communicator, lifelong hockey fan, and slo-pitch legend.
A journalism instructor of mine back in the ‘90s believed passive voice was useful in such instances; he thought active voice was overly brutal and harsh for describing tragedies.
“Bob was struck by a car” vs “A car ran over Bob.”
I never followed his advice, mind you, but I’ve always remembered it.

He played half a period, so technically he absolutely does count. 🤷‍♂️

Now I want to find out what duck on a rock is. 🦆 🪨 Probably more fun than watching the Maple Leafs these days.

I was surprised to learn there are only 4 of them left: Matthews, Nylander, Reilly and Tavares. I imagine a fire sale would net a pretty good return – but we only want guys willing to chew glass for a Cup.

Also a member of the Penetanguishene Sports Hall of Fame, I should point out.

I’d love another family vacation at Disney World, but that possibility has been permanently scratched off my list. As in forever. Even after Trump is gone, America will remain a pariah state in my eyes.

I cringe to think of all the articles and headlines I wrote over my journalism career that contained phrases like “autistic man,” “blind woman” or “handicapped child.” In my defence, times were different when I graduated J-school.

I believe 50,000 is the approximate number of visitors Midland gets for the festival each year. The number of butter tarts sold is more like 300,000.
And, for the record, no to raisins, but yes to pecans.

Neat! You could ask the best curlers in the world to reproduce this rock layout and they’d probably fail.

I’m showing this to my mom, who inexplicably lives in Texas and wonders why I don’t visit anymore.

Exactly what I said to my tour guide today in Antigua.
(Yes, he brought up the subject after learning I’m from Canada.)

Omigawd… Oh my God… OH MY GOD!!!
Is there anything better than playoff baseball?

I’ve never seen a batter hit a pitcher right back after the previous batter was beaned. If it wasn’t impossibly difficult, I’d say it was on purpose.

I briefly considered spending $2,500 for a ticket in the nosebleeds tonight, but sanity prevailed. Sitting on the couch in my Toronto Blue Jays T-shirt will have to do. #GoJaysGo

Who wants to be a legend?

I can’t wait to see what *tomorrow’s* front page looks like. I’ve been mulling over headline options, and I think I’d go with the simplest choice — CHAMPS! — in the biggest type size possible.

I would like to see this happen. The reaction would be priceless.

I get such a kick out of watching Varsho run. He looks like a speedy toddler trying to avoid a spanking.

Ripe with possibility.
Another classic in the offing? Or just a tidy little 2 1/2-hour game that gets us all to bed at a reasonable hour?
