NEW: Here is the preliminary reporting from the National Weather Service on the 5 tornado touchdowns yesterday. This was a classic Southeast Texas tornado day where most of the tornadoes were EF-0 or EF-1 strength and not on the ground for very long.

Astronomical winter begins Saturday, but you can kiss any semblance of "winter" weather goodbye between Christmas and New Year's if our signals are correct. North America is expected to get flooded with milder Pacific air, sending temps in northern Canada up to 50 degrees warmer than normal! 1/2

With a temperature outlook like this for the week of Christmas, most Americans will not have a #whiteChristmas away from the Great Lakes and the mountainous regions of the West. Sorry, kids, no snow in #Houston. Again. (But there was that one time in 2004!) #uswx #wx

The Freeze Watch got the upgrade to a Freeze Warning, and it's been expanded south of I-10 once you get west of Houston.

Take some time to protect cold-sensitive plants and provide a warm shelter for outdoor pets and livestock. 1/3
