AA5342 was such a preventable tragedy. Extremely complex airspace at low attitudes, multiple air traffic frequencies and overworked controllers meant it was just one loss of situational awareness away from disaster.

Just a note: it's not the government producing mystery fog. It's the time of the year that temperature inversions happen causing fog. The fog can have a chemical smell because the venting from the smoke stacks goes down, not up. If you want clean fog you have to vote for clean air.
