The SEEC executive director is chosen by the SEEC, which is compromised, sorry, comprised of three people selected by the mayor, three from the council, and the last by the SEEC itself. One position is vacant atm and a mayoral appt expires next month.

If you *do* want a(n) (ex-)journalist to hold you over until the next drop, check out Goldy. They posted on Friday about the race, and they started doing legit analysis of late vote counts years and years ago. Not so much now, but still much better than anyone else that I've seen has been doing.

Add that we know that the raw ballots counted are different and that we do not know where these drop boxes that have/have not been counted are located (it matters!), it's hugely irresponsible for a journalist to go on socials and present frivolous guesses as meaningful.

It's natural for folks to think "oh, a journalist put these up, this must be relevant, meaningful, and useful." But there are a whole bunch of factors that make 2025 different from 2021. KC Elections is counting slower. There was a huge push to get folks to use drop boxes instead of mail.
