I think that's why people are so quick to call the death of gb - we want to preserve it, to protect it as a perfect memory of a time before influencers and YouTube and the naked financialisation of internet fun. They sold friendship in a way that seems impossible to imagine now.

But it was always a fantasy. Giant bomb was a teenage dream of an Internet running off bro vibes rather than money. From hotspot 1 to jeff's firing from gb, i believed, and i loved those guys. We were young and naive and hopeful.

As much as it was about games, it was about the internet and community, and a celebration of the raw excitement of seeing the world change year on year, seemingly for the better. For many of us, those guys were the original parasocial relationship.

Hellraiser started with Hellraiser being my favourite (obviously), but now I'm all about Deader and Revelations because every time I watch them there's some new shit thing that I didnt notice before. Each watch delivers a discovery and adds new shitty depth.
