What I really need is, essentially, the Namingway edition romhack released in some official capacity. Original SNES graphics and sound, PS1 gameplay and translation. That’s my perfect version.

Geist never got the respect it deserved. Yes it had its less than stellar moments, but there was nothing like it at the time.

I’ll say, if you’re at all inclined to do so, give the Nightdive remaster a chance. It restores the missing content from the original release (all of the original levels for the human bosses, specifically) and it fixes/optimizes a ton of performance and control issues. It’s an A+ remaster.

It’s always a Sophie’s Choice moment for me, is the GameCube my all-time favorite or the PS1? Today it’s the GameCube.
