They did shut down several music channels, just not any of the ones running in the US --> US outlets run the story but don't put the "outside the US" part in the headline --> viral "news" accounts repost just the headline --> real event becomes total mess where (mostly) americans insist it's a hoax

Some of this might be the "enhancements" YouTube turns on by default and that creators have to turn off manually in YT Studio (Settings > Channel > Advanced settings, then scroll down to "Video quality enhancements") as well as the "Stable volume" option in the video player
