By signing, you will add your voice to those of other supportive parents or trans+ children and adults.

Our mission is simple - to bring together the many parents who care deeply about trans+ people, and help them channel that love into effective action.

The Transparent Pledge is the first step. It sets out 7 principles we believe every trans trans+ person should be able to count on.

This is a new initiative for parents to use their voices so that all trans people have the same respect and inclusion as everyone else.

As parents we recognise the importance of protecting our children. For many of us that means we are unable to speak out in support of trans people for fear of outing our child.

We want to give parents ways they can take action safely, that allows them to be in control of how public they are.

Parents of trans adults want to show visible solidarity and speak out in support of their adult children. Parents of younger trans children can share valuable insights and highlight experiences that too often go unheard. In every case our role is to stand beside trans people, not to speak over them.

Too often, trans people are ignored, sidelined or excluded from the very spaces where decisions about their lives are made. As parents, we can sometimes access those spaces and we intend to use that access to ensure trans voices and perspectives are heard.

Transparent Action exists to amplify trans voices, not replace them. We know that the voices of parents are often given a different kind of attention by the public, policymakers and other parents - and we want to use that privilege responsibly....

We are absolutely in agreement with you in this. Parents of trans adults have a very different function that parents of young trans kids.

We are very clear that our position is not one of speaking over trans people, but to build a place where parents can get knowledge and the tools to take action.

We know from personal experience how hard it is to balance the desire to speak out and have our voices heard - with the need to protect the privacy of our trans loved ones.

Which is why we are proud to mark today by introducing Transparent Action.
