I wouldnt call it selfish because that's a moralistic condemnation of a very understandable reaction to worsening conditions, but at the very least it feels frustratingly naive and solipsistic.

Reformism has so much staying power cuz it promises change in *your* lifetime, meanwhile we as communists take a generational approach. Communism is for the future, for us there is the road to socialism. Reformism promises small crumbs *now*, condeming the future to the crises the crumbs bring.

Do they *support* russia? Or do hold complex positions about the war against ukraine due to the genocide in donbass that leads them to begrudgingly voicing critical support for their side in a war they wish didnt happen in the first place. I hear a lot of the latter but none of the former.

I'm sure victims are thrilled for having their experiences picked clean by vultures for. whatever this is.

This entire story and it's staying power in the cultural conciousness is just an outgrowth of true crime mania so of course the only things left for journalists to say about any of it since it first broke over half a decade ago is shoddy combination amazon ads/psychoanalysis/clickbait articles.
