I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

For a moment I say to myself that this may be something good to come out of this administration. Then I reason that this - a negotiated settlement with a single party - doesn't address the issue comprehensively via actual regulation of all actors.

Executive Orders should have to go through some form of legal vetting before any associated actions are allowed to take place. The onus should be on the Executive branch to substantiate why their actions are not exceeding their scope of delegated powers under the constitution.
