Today on Spring Gardens in Buxton the Quakers organised a 2 hour silent vigil for the Children of Gaza. Over the period well over 30 peope stood, sometimes in the rain, in shared solidarity with the children who deserve to grow up in a safe and peaceful world.

#Buxton Repair Cafe, Sat 24 May 9:30-1pm in the halls of the Methodist Church on the Market Place. No fees, just donate what you can afford and feel is fair. Our volunteers fix small appliances, clothing, ceramics,, toys, and all sorts of things. Plus tea and yummies from the church cafe.

In response to requests and to support building local skills to save textiles from going to landfill, Transition Buxton is offering an evening sewing workshop on 20 May in St Ann’s Centre on Hardwick Square, 7-9pm. Suitable for beginners, and those with some experience of sewing.

Our Potato Day was successful again with 11 people picking up orders from the Repair Cafe on Saturday. Based on weight we have seen an increase compared to last year plus some new faces picking up orders. Our thanks to Transition Chesterfield for making this possible.

Today's blackcurrant bush pruning resulted in 2 branches that had laid on the ground and taken root - carefully removed and potted on ready for the Plant Swap stall at the Rotary event 31 May in the Octagon. If you are splitting plants or growing from seed please consider saving a few for the stall.

Wow, a very busy Repair Cafe on Saturday morning, so much so that we had to ask a few people to come back next time! Our fabulous volunteers processed 48 items today including; 3 hoovers, 3 ceramic items, a tent, several radios and CD players, and 3 lamps. Next session i22 February, 9:30am-1pm.

We run a monthly Repair Cafe on the 4th Saturday of the month in the halls of Buxton Methoidist Church on the Market Place, so the next one is tomorrow 25th January, 9:30am-1pm (last item in 12:30), no fees, just donate what you can afford and feel is fair.
