We fundamentally misunderstand these things about streets:

1. Streets are a liability, not an asset.
2. Street design is the primary factor in crash prevention and safety.
3. Streets should prioritize human movement, not automobile movement.

We would not be in this position if not for selfish and short sighted city councils like Plano, Irving, and apparently Carrollton.

Yes, we can be asking DART why this cut vs that cut, but we need to be asking city leaders what they plan to DO about it.

So far, the in-person comments have included multiple references to "neighborhood character," "concrete-covered landscapes," and "tree preservation," meaning we should push middle-income renters out of the city to live in sprawl so that no tree is ever removed and replaced in "their" neighborhoods.
