Red Harvest is him. All him, coming to grips with being a Pinkerton strike breaker and his wish-fulfillment that he couldn’t unleash.

You get the feeling that in his other works, The Thin Man especially, he’s combining what he saw as a Pinkerton Detective with his imagination and the old-timer-Pinkerton’s stories that her heard. But Red Harvest…

Callously, it’s win-win. If we can’t prosecute in US we turn to ICC, if we don’t want to deal with ICC we have 13 aircraft carriers.

The other issue is that it gets hot in the places where it snows, and humid too. So when you opt for “not hot” you actually get “not always hot”and have to, for a couple months every year, live in that “hot” climate lifestyle but with extra steps in the winter.

You look like a child!

I could totally see a company quietly making gobs of money building quality bikes using this hub, a front freewheel, a modest motor, and a sensible battery.

Everything about the bike is common and inexpensive using easy to find parts (good for consumers and the company’s supply chain)

2) the business model has no moat outside of “cargo” bikes. If I can get the battery, controller, and motor for ~$300 and attach to my $140 Walmart bike why would I pay $2,500 for the same parts and frame? Bikes are binary -very cheap or very expensive - and e-bikes are the same.

You’ve made great points on cost and the hidden market. I want to add to that:
1) casual bikers cannot easily or reliably travel at 15mph and will freak out when the bike gets them up that speed. It’s great for the people who can go that fast but don’t want to get sweaty, not so great for others…

Real question: is the saw on the back a western push style hand saw or a more sensible (with the handle) Japanese style downward pull saw?

I know it’s just for show and probably doesn’t work but, like, my mind….

I’m legit waiting for Bluesky to nuke all the social accounts with the stated goal of people setting up their own servers using the protocol.

I can see them starting with the PR accounts, press, celebs, etc then rolling on and on to smaller until they aren’t on the hook to manage all of this.

I get what you’re saying but I think there is a jagged but distinct line between what you’d like, essentially filters you don’t have to fully set up, and what most social media has become: an obscured filter with little to no resemblance to your invested preferences.

That entire thread without one mention of Hold The Dark or Hell or High Water… shame.

Lots of Nazis loved it.

If you’re a normie it’s just a realistic take on Vikings. If you’re a nazi it’s catnip.

You know the rest.

That requires a soul. Newsom has no soul, he’s a test tube baby designed to be the perfect politician.

He will, however, do what gets him votes. It’s in his genetic code. If we clap and cheer loud enough if he starts taking them to task, he’ll turn that dial all the way to 11.

I was looking for this comment!

I’ll add that it’s a common theme in the region: populations live long-term near water, create great works, boom in population, ominous gap, new peoples appear and live long-term near sources of water…

Of course there is pineapple but that puts all your eggs into the “Hawaiian” basket, which isn’t that big, and offers a hard edge of failure when your dish isn’t right.

It’s the gaminess of the meat; really off putting if you don’t expect it. Given they are Omni. the recipes aren’t “standard” and have to change by the animal. Puts stress on the kitchen and log. Also, people don’t usually like the idea of sweet fruit + pig (helps cut gaminess) so you narrow further.

You’re saying this is the ultimate dis track for her ex boyfriends?

“None of you dicked me so god I forgot how to write good music. Fuck you John Mayer!”

And this all assumes a boat similar to a Gato class sub. Shooting a missile might, maybe, require a bigger boat. So all the napkin math should be doubled.

Now it could tender from another commercial disguised ship, but you’ll need multiple of those ships or it will have to follow it. This makes new problems because it’s looking like a smuggler and now they have the attention of the CG.

Or it can stay submerged and snorkel but still need to tend.
