Henry VIII was definitely an interesting fellow who did a lot of things and was highly intelligent but I am glad modern historians show him as the lout he was. The dissolution of the monasteries alone puts him on my ugh list.

Rereading Diarmaid MacCulloch's "Christianity The First Three Thousand Years" and chuckling at the amount of shade he throws around in a prim and proper way that I missed on my first read.
