Reskeet if you think all the scientists who have lost their funding due to the current administration's actions should run for political office and drive the bums out. ✊🏾
It's alarming how much I need sound/chatter/music in my apartment/ears to ward off The Thoughts.

I'm not in a good space right now.

Instagram keeps causing chaos for me, and it's so frustrating. Between unjust account nuking and basic app/website malfunctions, I cannot get an account to work on both my phone and pc.

Twice‽ Wtf‽
My IG just got banhammered. If you follow(ed) me there, it'll be a hot minute before I'm back online.

"Have I to listen to this accused song once more," growled the barbarian, the knuckles of his clenched fist standing out white against his bronzed skin, "by Crom it will be raining blood in this office!"

Someone hastily snapped off the radio, silencing Toto.

I was looking up phones on Mint Mobile so I could buy one for my mom that I knew would be compatible with their service (I've always just bought a phone on a plan, so I don't know if any phone will work with any service).

Now every 7th TikTok video is a Mint Mobile ad. 😑

I was awake for 23.5 hours before I felt tired enough to fall asleep.
It's currently 23:16.

I woke up last night at 00:47 after 3 hours of sleep.

I have been wide awake nearly this entire time.

Somebody kill me, please.

What do you mean, my "doctor has left the practice" and I "need to call immediately to make arrangements to transfer to a new service provider?"

I just saw her less than two weeks ago, what the helly?

I did some armchair math, and if my spending patterns hold in 2026, I would actually put more money into my savings between 01/2026-10/2026 than I *earned* in all of 2024.

I don't even know how to register that intellectually. It does not compute.
I'm not sure what it says about my circumstances that I'm on track to earn more money this year than last when I spent two months unemployed.

Only by about $2700, but still.

If I were to buy one of these (HA!), I'd demand a used car price.
Tesla's latest gambit: become a rental car company. As cars pile up in showrooms and storage lots, Elon is trying to rent his way out of a crisis. Good luck, bud. #teslatakedown #MuskMustFall electrek.co/2025/11/10/t...
Tesla can’t sell its cars anymore so it is renting them now

I'm in the middle of playing BG3 right now, and I just took out the Hag simply because she was standing too close to a chasm, and I had a Void Bulb. We were barely through half a round of combat. I feel like such a badass right now.

I just hit a nerve.

Like, literally, with my injection, in my thigh. As *soon* as the needle went in, my thigh started spasming and contracting most wickedly.

"Uncomfortable" doesn't begin to describe it.

ICE's hiring surge is turning out to be an entirely predictable disaster. It turns out if you’re hiring for a pariah agency using nakedly fascist and racist messaging, America’s best, brightest, and most fit don’t apply. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-s-hiri...
ICE’s Hiring Surge is Already a Disaster
It's cutting standards and racing to hire exactly the wrong people, precisely as predicted.

One thing I remember from my job at the steel plant was when my coworkers would complain about their appliances breaking down after just a few years. It was something I could not understand.

I've had the same stove, microwave, and fridge since I moved in. They came with the apartment, so, y'know...

I've seen several people calling for a national strike over the renovation of the White House.

Where's that type of energy when I promote a general strike for women's healthcare?

There was a Cybertruck on my street last month. Ew.
I saw my first one last month! It was pulling an actual trailer!

Granted, the trailer was empty, but it was during my morning commute, so maybe they were on their way to pick something up? Who knows.
we're on the road back to where we live and saw our first irl cybertruck

"Purchasing isn't a highly cerebral position."

A) I've eaten those words. This kind of manufacturing has crazy amounts of details that need to be tracked.

B) AI still can't do my job, because all of my work is decision-making and tracking details. I don't trust it not to fuck up my spreadsheets.
...questions. For some reason, the non-profit center chose during my last mock interview to focus on how I might use AI in my workflow. I replied that I probably wouldn't, since after 5 years of doing the job, I haven't seen a way for AI to be beneficial. Purchasing isn't a highly cerebral position.

This thread about technical writing? Yeah, it came up again today. I was specifically hired because I had at least some passing familiarity with building spreadsheets for purchasing/sales purposes.

Not exactly "technical writing," but definitely a related skill.
In 2023, I went from a $40k/year job to a $50k/year job after telling the hiring manager I wrote an 80-page training manual for my position.

“My LLM has a failure rate of 50-80% on the first pass, so I make a second pass to fix the errors.”

DAWG, if your LLM fails 50-80% of the time on the first pass, what makes you believe it is failing at less than 50-80% on the second pass?

What the fuck.
