For a minor issue (an oven doesn’t work, a carriage has defective air-con), the train can carry on to London (assuming they have the time to take the set out of service for however long it takes to repair)

Anything more serious and regardless of operator, only have one depot is asking for trouble.

That would be a recipe for disaster and incredibly short-sighted.

If the train develops a fault that means it cannot safely run through the tunnel (an ET-No Go light), it would then be stranded somewhere where repair would be impossible.

Having worked at St Pancras for 8 years now, I don’t think I ever knew it was there either; worse that it was literally under my feet as I commuted in and out!

The rings are those that were suspended at St Pancras for the Olympics. Segments are also at Stratford and Ebbsfleet on the main concourses.
