Finally animated something with Blender!

Black and White weren't planned from day 1 to be based on NYC, there are files from 2008 indicating they were also considering Los Angeles.

HGSS specifically detects R4 flashcarts, which were huge at the time, and triggers a memory leak if it detects them.

Defensively, the situation is similar. There are two completely different enums for "real" types (used for Pokemon/moves), and for tera types. Only the latter contains Stellar.

When checking a Pokemon's type for defensive purposes, the game knows not to try to convert Stellar into a real type.

A fun implementation detail: Stellar type doesn't actually exist.

When a Pokemon's tera type is Stellar (internally "Niji"/rainbow), then Tera Blast/Starstorm become typeless moves.

Then the move effect ITSELF changes the move to super effective against tera targets (similar to Freeze-Dry).

Big find by @tortank.bsky.social ! These two unused item icons - located right between the other new evolution items - are almost certainly the Powerful and Technical Stone, respectively.

Shame they're not in the final game, which has no way to evolve Stantler at all.

The cut ability "Condenser" is more accurately translated as "Capacitor". Its behaviour is exactly the same as Regieleki's ability Transistor - multiplying the damage of electric moves. It's unclear why it was added.

Poltchageist had a third form deleted in Feb 2023.

The Expert AI is very elaborate. One example: has logic that knows that the 5 specific Pokemon Pikachu, Marowak, Chansey, Porygon2, and Dusclops depend on their held item, and it should be removed with Knock Off or Thief when possible.

There's also lists of mons vulnerable to Encore, and so on.

SV/Home source has leaked.

First interesting thing I spotted: A commented-out unit test asserting that you can evolve into Overqwil or Wyrdeer using the "Powerful Stone" and "Technical Stone" respectively. But it says the items were "added for testing purposes", so who knows if that means anything.
